MSOMed takes a closer, somewhat critical look at recent published and publicized medical-study findings and expert medical pronouncements that get media attention, with an eye to pointing out findings that are unlikely to hold up, straightening out distortions, adding context, exposing uncertainties, and explaining what it all might really mean to you. Every effort is made to do so without biases or fear of offending anyone. Studies and issues related to obesity and losing excess weight will probably come up more and more frequently as I turn more of my attention to it for other projects.
This blog isn't anti-science or anti-mainstream-medicine, and in fact is highly friendly to the notion that the scientific process as applied to mainstream medical research is in the long run the best way to understand health and improve it. It is not pro-alternative medicine. MSOMed is otherwise unassociated with any philosophical, political, religious, social, cultural, organizational or commercial point of view. It is not sponsored, and I accept no revenues for any part of it. You can learn more about the blog's motivation and goals in this first post.
The blog is essentially a spin-off effort from my recent book, called Wrong, which is about why experts usually end up misleading us. You can learn more about Wrong, me and my other work here.
